Wes Anderson is putting pen to paper with Montblanc to mark the 100th anniversary of the Meisterstück fountain pen.
Starting with what he knows best, the renowned filmmaker has directed a three-minute short featuring actors Rupert Friend and Jason Schwartzman, while making an appearance himself. Set against the backdrop of Mont Blanc—the mountain that inspired the brand’s name—the narrative takes the audience on a journey to an observatory-library atop the mountain, where the history of the Meisterstück is explored and a new collection of anniversary products is unveiled. To bring this vision to life, he enlisted his frequent collaborators, including producer Roman Coppola, art director Stephan Gessler, and Oscar-winning director of photography Linus Sandgren.
Inking the whole deal is the Schreiberling, a pen designed by Anderson, with preorders slated to start in 2025. Anderson was involved from the very beginning, even contributing a prototype pen design during the initial stages.
The anniversary collection includes not just the Meisterstück pens but also an array of luxurious leather goods such as belts, bags, and document cases, all crafted with the elegance and precision that Montblanc is known for. New additions like the Meisterstück mini bag and shopping bag also make an appearance.
