Not all memes are compatible across screens. Being hugely aware of this, video game giant Ubisoft has decided to troll its fans by posting a message that not everyone can read.
Taking to Twitter, the company wrote, “Who’s ready for… 2020,” with the year written in video game controller emojis.
Ubisoft published the tweet using the Twitter web app, so the “2020” slogan looked fine on its end. For some internet users surfing via mobile, though, the text was barely legible.
“Happy 202(,” one Twitter user responded. “Last cursed tweet of 2019.” another wrote.
Others joked that the tweet looked even worse when viewed using dark mode.
Ubisoft, acknowledging that the post isn’t the most mobile-friendly, ran a poll to ask if social media users could read the tweet. Unsurprisingly, nearly 64-percent voted “no.”
UI/UX designers and social media marketers, remember to test your work and posts across platforms too.
