Motorola Assures That ‘Bumps And Lumps’ Found On Foldable Razr Phone Are Normal

Like the beauty and fashion industries, the smartphone market is inching towards a goal of diversity with models of various shapes, sizes and colors. Motorola not only stayed faithful to this by introducing a foldable phone, but is also encouraging users to accept whatever “bumps and lumps” it develops.
The company updated the beloved Razr by making it bendable. However, if you witnessed what went down with Samsung’s pioneering Galaxy Fold, you might be skeptical about the Razr’s display staying in pristine condition.
Surprisingly, Motorola concurs. To avoid letting down customers in the same way Samsung disappointed users with the less-than-perfect Galaxy Fold screen, Motorola announced in a video about caring for the new Razr that the “screen is made to bend; bumps and lumps are normal.”
The company justifies that since the material used for foldable screen displays are flexible, the appearance of creases on the Razr’s screen after multiple uses is completely natural. It’s not just the Razr that suffers this issue, though—tech giants have yet to find a solution to retain the quality of such screens.
Motorola, however, makes up for this problem by fortifying the durability of the plastic folding display with a hinge.
Elsewhere in the video, Motorola says customers can preserve the condition of their foldable Razrs by keeping them away from sharp objects and screen protectors, closing the devices before they put them in their pockets, and so on.
The PSA comes ahead of the phone’s official release. Pre-sales are now open exclusively on Verizon at US$1,499, but the smartphone will only start shipping on 14 February.
