So, you might be enunciating popular brand names like Nutella and adidas correctly, but it’s time to look at the names on the labels of clothes you could be decked in, like Comme des Garçons or Givenchy.

Comme des Garçons
Pronounced as: Comb-day gar-son (with a light “n”)
Comme des Garçons is a Japanese fashion brand founded and helmed by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo. And no, it’s not pronounced as “comb-dis gar—kons.”
Balmain
Pronounced as: Ball-Mah
You’re not alone if you have been calling the brand “Ball-main,” which has been name-dropped by rappers in plenty of verses, making it the informal term used by many.
Givenchy
Pronounced as: Jhee-Von-SHEE
This fashion label has been around for a long time, since 1952, to be exact. However, the pronunciation has lingered as “Give-on-chee,” but it’s not. Take note!
Saint Laurent
Pronounced as: San-Lo-Ron
The brand dropped the “Yves” to read just Saint Laurent, which is often mistakenly enunciated as “Saint Law-Rent.” But where’s the panache there?
Stüssy
Pronounced as: Stoo-see
The American line, which trended surfwear, has been referred to as “Sta-see” or “Stuss-see” incorrectly over the years.
