Alexander Wang Divulges How To Effectively Dress Yourself In All Black

While the runways have been dominated with flamboyant, over-the-top outfits of late, certain looks stand the test of time. The all-black ensemble can go anywhere from casual to buttoned-up to dramatic in no time, so long as you put the right pieces together.
If you’d like to eliminate one more thing to think about in the morning, consider removing the step of coordinating colors in your daily outfits. Black-on-black has been the signature style of renowned fashion designer Alexander Wang for years, and he hasn’t gotten tired of it.
To the designer, dressing in full black is “easy” and “versatile,” and no matter the occasion, “you can kind of win any situation” with your look as it presents an “immediate attitude.”
In a video interview with Insider, Wang shares three points to consider in order to style yourself successfully in an all-black outfit.
The first aspect to matching black with black is texture. For the interview, Wang combined a number of finishes with a black jersey, black jeans, and leopard pony hair shoes for contrast.
The next is proportions, which differ from person to person. Wang believes oversized, unstructured fits are best for his silhouette and personality.
Last of all, you can polish your getup by accessorizing with another color. The designer personally prefers tying his outfits together with gold metallic pieces.
“I don’t think there’s any occasion that all black isn’t appropriate for,” he described. “If there is, I don’t go to it.”
