Don’t wait until the weekend to tidy up your home, as that’s when you’re meant to recharge for the coming week. Instead, spend three minutes a day to conduct a quick “surface sweep,” and your abode will always be ready for guests without all the hassle.

The low-effort tip was recommended in an article by Apartment Therapy. By “surface sweep,” it means picking up stray objects on your floors and furniture.

The key is to complete the activity in just three minutes, rather than focusing on volume. Simply get a bag or box, set your timer for three minutes, and begin putting items back to their rightful locations.

The lifestyle and interior design blog explains that by limiting the time to three minutes a day, keeping your living space spick and span becomes “manageable” and saves you from burnout.

You can finish this simple task during commercial breaks, or by the time your favorite song ends.

While this trick isn’t for a full room cleanup, it’s great for maintaining the cleanliness of your home so the clutter doesn’t build up over time.

Apartment Therapy says to “work with intention” and to do it fast, completing as much as you can until the timer sets off. Once you get the hang of it, tidying up gets easier and more efficient.
