Nancy Pelosi Ripping Copy Of Donald Trump’s Speech Apart Inspires Humorous Memes

Right before Donald Trump began the State of the Union speech on Tuesday night, the tension between the president and Speaker Nancy Pelosi was impalpable. But a specific moment from the night propelled into an internet meme, and it was none other than Pelosi ripping up his speech at the end.
Internet users started pointing fingers over who began the animosity. Some called out Trump for blatantly appearing to snub her handshake as he sat with his back facing towards her. Others called out Pelosi for prompting the house to impeach Trump.
Conservatives labeled her “petty” and “childish,” with hashtags like #PettyPelosi, #PelosiMeltdown, #NancytheRipper, and #PelosiTantrum ending up under the Trending Topics section on Twitter.
Liberals, on the other hand, praised Pelosi for her audacity and even thanked her for it. As one user said, “That feels good,” accompanying the compliment with the hashtag “#NancytheRipper.”
Either way, there was no stopping the influx of memes that came out of it. “Me ripping up the study guide after failing the test,” Josh Silverman, co-host of Good Day Kansas, tweeted along with a clip of Pelosi shredding the copy. Another user likened it to an interaction between reporters and editors when they submit their first drafts, only to have them torn into bits.
Pelosi denounced the speech as a “manifesto of mistruths” to reporters later that night, and on Trump’s end, he began retweeting posts that criticized Pelosi, including one that called her “a bitter drama queen pitching a little hissy fit.”
