Fujifilm Dismisses Ambassador After His Shooting Technique Sparks Controversy

Fujifilm has dismissed its ambassador Tatsuo Suzuki from its X Photographer program due to his controversial shooting style.
Fujifilm previously announced its new camera, the X100V, and spotlighted different photographers using the camera in a series of videos. One of the creators was Tatsuo Suzuki, whose shooting style is reminscent of photographer Bruce Gilden‘s.
In the video, Suzuki could be seen walking up to strangers then promptly capturing them without their permission. Suzuki’s shooting style is said to be controversial by the Japanese, whose culture incorporates politeness, quietness and respect.
While Gilden’s style is deemed to be “brash and obnoxious,” Suzuki’s method has been described as “weird and creepy.”
Due to the backlash, Fujifilm took down the video. A few days later, Fuji Rumors noticed that Suzuki had been removed from the X Photographers program’s website. His Fujifilm photographer bio also doesn’t reflect any details about him.
