Canon’s New Selphy Square Printer Produces Quality Long-Lasting Shots On The Go
Canon has revealed a pocket-sized photo printer that makes printing on the go more of a perk than an afterthought.
The Selphy Square QX10 is an ultra-compact photo printer that uses thermal transfer dye-sublimation to generate images up to 68mm x 68mm with 287 dpi resolution.
The printer also comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, and is able to print up to 20 prints on a single charge, with each print taking at least 43 seconds from start to finish.
All users have to do is upload their images on the Selphy Photo Layout app, where you can add stickers and text accordingly, before printing them out.
The images are printed on a square-format “sticker-type paper” with a special coating that “protects against splashes, spills and fading for up to 100 years when stored in an album,” Canon states. This sets it apart from its other printers that use ZINK photo paper, which produces mediocre-quality shots that fade easily.
The Canon Selphy Square QX10 is available in black, green, pink and white for US$150. The 20-pack of paper and ink will cost US$15. You can learn more about the printer on Canon’s product page.
