British Government Unveils New Post-Brexit Passport Design In Iconic Blue & Gold

The UK government will be rolling out new blue, post-Brexit passports for citizens in March, following its departure from the EU.
The dark blue passports represent the British people, setting them apart from the burgundy covers used by residents in the EU, Home Secretary Priti Patel said on Saturday.
“By returning to the iconic blue and gold design, the British passport will once again be entwined with our national identity and I cannot wait to travel on one,” Patel said.
However, what she did not mention was that the passports will be produced in the bloc that UK had just exited.
The new passports will be manufactured by a firm called Gemalto, a Franco-Dutch company located in Poland. This move has been labeled “ironic” by critics.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, nevertheless, praised the new color scheme as a “wonderful thing,” as he felt a “sense of personal loss and outrage” when the blue passports were “taken away” back in 1988.
Former Remain-backing MEP Seb Dance said that he liked the “French-designed Polish-printed new UK passport” before adding that the previous passport was “more useful” as it “allowed Brits the right to work, study and retire freely.”
