Donald Trump Donates US$100K From His Presidential Salary To Combat Coronavirus

President Donald Trump has offered up his latest quarterly salary to combat the COVID-19 outbreak. His donation to the government’s Department of Health and Human Services amounted to US$100,000.
White House’s press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, announced the donation on Twitter by including a photo of his check. “President @realDonaldTrump made a commitment to donate his salary while in office,” the post begins, before going into detail about how Trump is honoring that promise by giving his 2019 fourth quarter paycheck to aid the efforts undertaken to “confront, contain, and combat coronavirus.”
It wasn’t too long before his handout was hit with criticism, though. “And you think that makes up for the millions of US taxpayer dollars he has wasted on his golf trips and what goes into his own properties,” one social media user retaliated.
Trump recently tasked vice president Mike Pence to be in charge of the US government’s response to the novel coronavirus, and declared that the nation was “very, very ready” to fight COVID-19. At the moment, the US is not placing travel restrictions on other countries, including destinations with large numbers of reported cases like South Korea and Italy.
