Spotify Curates Playlist With Top Female Artists For International Women’s Day

Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2020, Spotify is honoring its top female artists in the world.
The ranking was derived from Spotify’s user listening data from 1 January 2020 to 1 March 2020, according to its press release.
The first in the lineup for top female artists was awarded to 18-year-old Billie Eilish. She is not only the leading female musician, but also the top artist overall this year. The Grammy-winning singer has garnered over 10.3 billion streams and more than 60 million listeners monthly.
Eilish also recently unveiled her 007 theme song for the upcoming No Time To Die, which makes her the youngest musician to release a James Bond soundtrack. The second position went to Taylor Swift, followed by Ariana Grande, Halsey, and Camila Cabello respectively.
In the podcast department, top female-led shows were calculated based on hours streamed. The first spot went to comedic true-crime series My Favorite Murder, hosted by comedians Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, and the next in line is Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat’s Crime Junkie.
Spotify will also be releasing a new Women’s History Month hub, including female-based tracks, playlists and podcasts. Check out the platform’s International Women’s Day playlist below.
