UN Women’s Time-Traveling Ad Reveals Not Much Has Changed Between 1950 & 2020

UN Women unveiled a timeless spot noting the unchanging gender inequality from the 1950s all the way to the current Millenia for International’s Women Day on 8 April 2020.
The spot sees a newscaster reporting about the current state of working women in the 1950s. As he goes into detail about gender inequality in the 1950s, the black and white news report switches to color with slight setup changes, noting that the footage is now being presented in 2020.
In the 1950 set, the newscaster speaks about unequal wage between men and women despite them having the same qualifications. The transition to 2020 reveals how the same issue is still present in the current day.
The video, directed by Doug Walker from real estate company Caruso Company, was shot in a single take. Walker had everyone act out their roles according to keywords from the script to create one seamless shot.
The clip is part of UN Women’s latest campaign, which strives to achieve gender equality.
