NSFW: AI-Created Nudes Of Women Are Frighteningly Convincing And For Sale NSFW

These nudes are fake, but are they any more ethical?
A startup called These Nude Do Not Exist manufactures photos of naked women using Generative Adversarial Networks, an algorithm that learns to do what it does by studying a large database of images.
According to a report by VICE, the website collects public domain photos and produces nudes that were never taken by a human, selling each picture for US$1.
Thus far, the results exclusively feature smiling white women of slim to average builds.
While the idea seems less contemptible than spreading real nudes without the subject’s permission, the system still raises eyebrows due to the way the images are obtained, as Daily Dot points out.
Nudes are being circulated all the time, and just because the photos are supposedly in the public domain, it doesn’t mean the women in them have consented to their pictures being shared or repurposed.
