Democratic Party’s Donkey Strangely Gets Replaced By Rat Graphic On Google

The Democratic Party’s mascot, as you might well be aware, is a donkey. Based on “Google’s understanding,” though, it’s apparently now a rat.
As discovered by Mashable, looking up “Democratic Party” on Google’s search tool on Monday evening erroneously prompted a picture of a rat on the right column, known as the Knowledge Panel.
The illustration depicts the rodent, instead of the donkey symbol, decked in colors of the US flag.
Even if you haven’t heard of the Knowledge Panel, you should be familiar with it— it’s the box on the right of search results that summarizes the topic you have searched for. Google says it gives you “a quick snapshot of information” on the subject according to “Google’s understanding of available content on the web.”
Google responded to Mashable that the imagery on the Knowledge Panel is “automatically generated from pages on the web.”
“We encourage people and organizations to claim their Knowledge Panels, which allows them to select a representative image,” it added.
Since the time of publishing, the Democratic Party is no longer represented by any graphic on the panel. On the other hand, the Republican Party, Prohibition Party, Constitution Party and Modern Whig Party, are all correctly associated with their respective animals.
