Vanessa Hudgens Sparks Anger For Making Light Of Coronavirus Casualties

Vanessa Hudgens suffered backlash after she posted an “insensitive” video on Instagram yesterday.
The clip showed Hudgens reacting to events that had to be postponed due to the coronavirus. “Yeah, until July sounds like a bunch of bulls**t,” she said.
“I’m sorry, but like, it’s a virus, I respect it, but at the same time… even if everybody gets it, people are going to die, which is terrible but, like, inevitable,” she continued.
Her video triggered fans, who thought her comments were “heartless” and “sad.” Journalist Yashar Ali responded to her remarks by tweeting, “What a horrible and heartless message for you to share with the younger people who look up to you.”
“It’s sad you need a loved one to die in order to understand the severity of this pandemic,” another Twitter user wrote.
Hudgens immediately responded to the controversy in her Instagram Story, stating that her comments were taken “out of context.” Describing it as a “crazy time,” Hudgens clarified that she wasn’t taking the pandemic “lightly,” and had been isolating herself at home to keep safe.
That, however, did not slow down the wave of criticisms, which pushed Hudgens to release a formal apology on Twitter, conveying remorse for offending social media users with her “insensitive words.”
“This has been a huge wake up call about the significance my words have, now more than ever,” she said.
“I’m sending safe wishes to everyone during this crazy time,” she concluded her tweet.
