Apple’s iPad Pro is now almost like a laptop, having been improved with trackpad and mouse support. But it’s also very much not like a personal computer, and its new intriguing ad will show you why.
Shortly after unveiling the powerful 2020 iPad Pro, Apple showed off how the new tablet breaks retired conventions about computers by uploading a commercial in the style of a vintage instructional video, claiming it to be “a beginner’s guide to proper computing.”
Users are seemingly dictated to follow instructions like sitting up straight in front of their desks—which must be kept clean and tidy—and are warned against focusing on too many tasks at a time.
“Treat your computer with respect,” the narrator urges. “It is not a toy.”
At the same time, viewers are shown clips of people going against those instructions by lying on their backs with their iPad Pros and viciously coloring in their screens with the Apple Pencil.
The clip ends with the iPad Pro’s new tagline, “Your next computer is not a computer.”
Apple flaunted the new iPad Pro to be “faster and more powerful than most Windows PC laptops.” The device starts from US$799, and comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes.
