Apple’s New MacBook Air Has Double The Storage, At The Price Of An iPhone

Along with the 2020 iPad Pro, Apple unleashed a new MacBook Air on Wednesday. The laptop has double the storage of the 2019 model, but is cheaper at US$999.
There aren’t many design changes in the 2020 edition, and it retains a 13-inch Retina display with True Tone, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a T2 security chip, a Force Touch trackpad, Touch ID, and three microphones.
What’s different is the scissor switch Magic Keyboard, which replaces the much-complained-about butterfly keyboard.
The new MacBook Air, available in space gray, silver and gold, has a starting price of US$999 with storage capacity of 256GB. In contrast, the 2019 model was priced at US$1,099 for just 128GB of storage.
It also performs twice as fast, thanks to Intel’s newest 10th-generation Core processors bearing 1.2GHz quad-core Core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds running up to 3.8GHz. The additional Intel Iris Plus Graphics allows the laptop to produce graphics performance up to 80-percent faster.
College students and their parents, as well as educators of all grade levels, can also score the laptop at a discounted starting price of US$899.
