Watch: 8th Grader Goes Head-To-Head With Pro Photographer In Ultimate Shoot

What happens when an eighth grader and a professional photographer go head-to-head in a photoshoot?
Fashion photographer Jessica Kobeissi launched “the ultimate portrait shootout” against an unexpected contender: an eighth grader.
But Hudson Matter is no ordinary 14-year-old. He is the son of New York Times bestseller and photographer Jordan Matter, and has also amassed a fair share of fans, with over 130,000 followers on Instagram.
Both photographers had to capture professional ballerina Isabella Fonte in various venues within three minutes in each location.
The biggest takeaway from the challenge was not to “beat” the other, but to learn how different photographers would shoot the same subject.
Kobeissi found Matter’s creativity and style of shooting impressive, which made her realize that her photographs looked similar from shoot to shoot.
The experiment opened her eyes to new creative styles instead of always sticking to “a certain pose” or a “certain type of person,” Kobeissi told PetaPixel.
