‘Blue Lagoon’ In The UK Gets Dyed Black To Avert Visitors During Lockdown

Dubbed as “Blue Lagoon,” the former limestone quarry located in Harpur Hill near Buxton has been dyed black to prevent people from visiting the site during the lockdown.
According to Buxton police, the azure body of water had been colored black to prevent visitors from entering it before. The lagoon apparently contained toxic chemicals with a pH level of 11.3, per the BBC. For context, laundry bleach has a pH level of nearly 12. There were even signs noting that the lagoon had dead animals and garbage to keep people from swimming in it.
This time, though, the move was reenacted due to reports that people were sneaking out from the nationwide lockdown to gather at the spot.
UK’s Prime Minster Boris Johnson, who himself has been tested positive for the coronavirus, announced that residents are to stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19. “If you don't follow the rules, the police will have the power to enforce them,” the prime minister cautioned..
