Previously, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk declared that he would be working on ventilators to help alleviate the shortage in hospitals. Tesla engineers have now offered a sneak preview of the new ventilators, which are made out of car parts.

In a YouTube video, the company explains that it is attempting to manufacture ventilators “out of some car parts” to help out the medical industry without touching its existing supplies.

The clip also shows off the ventilator prototype, which draws upon Tesla cars’ features and utilizes the Model 3’s infotainment system.

The Tesla engineers describe that they wanted to use parts they were familiar with to create the ventilators. They also detail how important it is for them to understand the parts’ reliability and availability in volumes to produce wares for the medical community.
