To meet the current shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), Apple has designed a flat-pack face shield for healthcare professionals battling the coronavirus.
CEO Tim Cook recently
revealed the design via a video on his Twitter account, and Apple has now shared some illustrations alongside
instructions on how to assemble the face shield.
Cook mentioned that the gear is a collaborative effort across the company, including engineering, product design, operations, and packaging. Millions of the face shields are being manufactured, and Apple devised for them to be flat to ship them in boxes of 100 to medical workers in the US and China.
The face shields arrive with three parts, the body, along with forehead and silicone straps, and can be adjusted to fit everyone with a set of closures. They can be assembled in under two minutes.
