Apple & Stanford Launch First-Responders App To Screen Them For COVID-19

With the help of Apple, Stanford Medicine will be releasing a new app called First Responder COVID-19 Guide to screen at-risk firefighters, police offers and paramedics in California for coronavirus infections.
Professionals will first be asked to answer a series of questions about possible symptoms, and if their results suggest a potential COVID-19 infection, they will be recommended to go for the drive-thru testing.
They can then show the results to the person-in-charge of health in their workplace. The app refers to this person as a “department infection control officer,” who will get them a fixed date for priority testing at a Stanford Health Care site.
Stanford decided to focus on first-responders as they hold a higher risk of getting infected by the virus. More than 1,000 New York City police officers have been tested positive for the virus as of 1 April 2020, per PatentlyApple. Currently, the app will only be available in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties in California.
