Coca-Cola Apologizes For Bottle Packaging In The UK That Could Cut Customers

If you’re living in the UK and have just purchased a 1.5-liter Coca-Cola bottle, do check for defects before opening it.
The company has issued a warning over some 1.5-liter Coca-Cola Original Taste plastic bottles with bottle neck rings that don’t meet its safety cola-fications. A manufacturing flaw resulted in a small batch of bottle neck rings arriving with “a sharp and uneven rim edge,” Coca-Cola detailed.
The fault affects some bottles with a best-before end date of 30 September 2020, namely those with the following codes printed below the neck: 083EK3TT:TT; 084EK3TT:TT; 085EK3TT:TT; 086EK3TT:TT; 087EK3TT:TT; 088EK3TT:TT; 089EK3TT:TT; 090EK3TT:TT.
“TT:TT” denotes a time on the 24-hour clock, such as 12:11.
If your bottle was printed with one of the above codes, do take a closer look at the ring. Carefully open it with your hand on the cap instead of the bottle neck ring. If it’s not possible to open it safely, Coca-Cola asks that you leave it unopened and call 0800 22 77 11.
Coca-Cola assures that neither the quality of the beverage nor other product packaging was affected by the production flaw.
“The safety and quality of our products is of paramount importance to us and we do all we can to ensure they reach people in perfect condition,” it wrote. “We are sorry that on this occasion a small number of our products have not met our required standards.”
