Ashley Graham Addresses Model Who Nitpicked Her Body On Sports Illustrated Cover

Ashley Graham revealed she was told by a fellow model she was “too large” to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Graham revealed it all during a chat with Naomi Campbell for Campbell’s YouTube series, ‘No Filter With Naomi’. Both models spoke about trying out for Sports Illustrated magazine, and Graham touched on the controversy after she landed on the 2016 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover.
“There was another model who was so upset that I had gotten the cover and she said I was very large and that women my size should not be on the cover,” Graham spilt the tea.
“You can go look it up,” she told Campbell, refusing to divulge who the critic was but hinted that her name starts with the letter “C.” Campbell then defended Graham because “that person doesn’t have a right to say that.”
According to HuffPost, the critic Graham might be referring to was Cheryl Tiegs, who openly dismissed Graham’s cover.
“Actually I don’t like it that we’re talking about full-figured women because it’s glamorizing them and your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches],” Tiegs told E! News back in 2016. “Her face is beautiful—beautiful—but I don’t think it’s healthy in the long run.”
Tiegs then clarified that her comments were taken out of context. “My sincere apologies to everyone I have hurt. I truly just want everyone to be healthy and happy,” she tweeted.
