Skype Now Comes With Customizable Background Option For Your Next Video Call

Now that people around the world are social distancing during the coronavirus crisis, remote workers are communicating via video calls more often than ever. This might be why Skype has finally enabled its users to customize their backgrounds on video calls, with the hopes of sharing a slice of the pie with Zoom.
The feature is available on the new desktop version of Skype on Windows, Mac, Linux and the web.
There are a selection of backgrounds available online for you to add some fun into your video calls. You can transform your environment into a setting from Studio Ghibli to backdrops from DC and Pixar’s films. If you’d like to sit on Game of Thrones’ Iron Throne, there’s one for it, as well.
To activate a new theme, just head on over to the ‘Audio & Video’ settings to switch up your background.
However, the feature will not work on the Microsoft Store version of the app. Alternatively, you can select the previous .exe file from the Skype website, or simply use the web version on Windows 10 or newer. If you are not into changing backgrounds, you can also choose to blur yours and bring the focus to you.
