Previously, people were encouraged to look out for three core symptoms of the coronavirus. Now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added six new indicators of the virus alongside fever, cough and shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
In total, there are nine symptoms of the coronavirus that have been confirmed by the CDC. The new symptoms consist of: chills; repeated shaking with chills; muscle pain; headache; sore throat; new loss of taste or smell.
Any of the nine symptoms might surface between two to 14 days following exposure to the coronavirus.
Sneezing and a runny nose remain as non-symptoms of COVID-19, and are rarely experienced by patients diagnosed with the disease.
However, the CDC says to seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of COVID-19’s emergency warning signs, namely breathing difficulties, persistent chest pain or pressure, new confusion or inability to arouse, and bluish lips or face.
