Hackers Are Faking HR Meetings On Zoom To Obtain Your Personal Information

If you come across an email from HR regarding termination of your employment or contract, do not open it, as email cybersecurity firm Abnormal Security has found that hackers are now faking Zoom meeting emails to steal your personal information and login credentials, considering how more users are now using the video call software as they work from home.
The phishing scheme comes in the form of HR emails to unsuspecting employees to attend a Zoom meeting regarding the termination of employment or contract. It will include an invitation link, which will direct the victim to a false Zoom login page hosted at the URL “zoom-emergency.myftp.org.”
When logged in, cyber-attackers will be able to steal your login credentials immediately. As many people are afraid to lose their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic, hackers take advantage of the fear by luring employees to click on the phishing link to attend a non-existent meeting in order to steal their personal information.
To protect yourself against phishing attacks, be wary of links that require your login credentials and always check the sender’s email address and the link in the email.
Instead of clicking on hyperlinks right away, you can type out the website’s official URL on your web browser to check its validity.
Cyber attacks are on the rise of late, as hackers are exploiting people’s more frequent internet use to infiltrate devices and spend money using their credit cards. Sometimes, victims need not even click on links in emails to be subjected to malware.
