Viral Photo Of Kim Jong-Un Laid In Glass Coffin Is Almost Certainly A Fake

An unsettling photo showing North Korean leader Kim Jong-un resting in a glass coffin with a pillow and a red blanket has gone viral.
The image surfaced after multiple rumors about Kim’s health deteriorating circulated online. Social media users who shared the picture credited Chinese and Japanese media for “releasing them,” but it is very likely edited.
The original photo is believed to have been taken during the funeral of his late father, Kim Jong Il, who died in 2011 from a heart attack. It seems that Kim Jong-un’s face was superimposed over his father’s in the now-viral image.
The status of Kim Jong-un’s health is still unclear. His absence from the public eye has raised speculations about his health issues, though South Korean officials assure that Kim is “alive and well.”
