Apple’s iPhones Might Soon Detect Face Masks, Making Them Easier To Unlock

In the latest developer version of Apple’s iOS 13.5, a new feature might make it easier to unlock your iPhone without removing your face masks during the coronavirus pandemic, per TechCrunch.
In a video shared by app developer Guilherme Rambo, Apple devices might soon be able to turn off its FaceID feature when a face mask is detected and hop onto its backup passcode-entry screen, so users can directly unlock their devices without much inconvenience.
This will enable users to stop removing their face masks often to use the Face ID feature and reduce their risk of exposing themselves to the virus. However, there hasn’t been any confirmation from Apple’s side as of yet.
The company recently collaborated with Google to launch a new contact tracking API to help national health bodies build apps to enable people to find out if they have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19.
