‘The Shape Of Water’ Director Guillermo Del Toro Shares Must-Watch Films At Home

Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro started a Twitter thread to update his followers on how he has been coping with the coronavirus pandemic at home, and shared that he has been spending his downtime on some quality books and films.
In his new watchlist, the director highlighted Gustaf Molander’s A Woman’s Face, Ermanno Olmi’s Il Posto, and Celine Sciamma’sGirlhood and Tomboy, to be among his favorite films that he recommends movie buffs check out during their time at home.
The Shape of Water director also prompted other filmmakers to contribute to his Twitter thread with their very own lists. This ended up with many directors by the likes of Darren Aronofsky, Ari Aster, Ava DuVernay, Sarah Polley, Edgar Wright, Rian Johnson, Brad Bird, Scott Derickson, and more, sharing what they have been watching lately.
Midsommar director Ari Aster divulged that he has been rewatching the third season of HBO’s The Sopranos, while Darren Aronofsky listed classics like Barton Fink, Amelie, and Total Recall. Check out the full Twitter thread here.

Been rewatching Mitchell Leisen: Easy Living, Death Takes a Holiday, Midnight, Hold back the Dawn, etc etc Leisen was (in his time) relegated as being a “Stylist” and unfavorably compared to Sturges or Wilder (sometimes by Wilder himself) with whom he collaborated.

I've been rewatching Sopranos season 3, which is a supreme work of art. Also been rewatching the TV version of 'Scenes from a Marriage.' It's been a comfort to watch two morbidly disenchanted people decimate each other in the comfort and privacy of THEIR homes.
