Gollum Actor Andy Serkis Will Read ‘The Hobbit’ For 12 Hours Straight Online

Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in The Hobbit franchise, will read J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit for 12 hours straight in a livestream this Friday.
Serkis shared on Twitter that he will be reading The Hobbit for 12 hours in a live-streaming “Hobbitathon,” and encouraged people to join in to help raise funds for healthcare professionals and those impacted by the COVID-19 crisis in the UK.
The actor has set up a GoFundMe page to collect donations for the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and children’s charity Best Beginning.
The live reading marathon will start at 10am GMT, or 5am EST and 2am PST on Friday, 8 May 2020. Stay updated on Serkis’ Twitter, where the livestream link will be posted.
In the same vein, Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on author J.K. Rowling’s online hub to entertain children, teachers and carers, who are staying at home during the virus spread.
