Kendall Jenner has agreed to pay up US$90,000 for her promotion of the notorious Fyre Festival in 2017.

The supermodel was sued by Gregory Messer, an attorney representing creditors who were vying to recoup losses after the flopped event, at the US Bankruptcy Court in New York in August 2019, according to a report by WWD.

Documents detailed that Jenner had promoted the festival in a now-deleted Instagram photo from January 2017, and had been paid US$275,000 for the ad. The complaint also noted that Jenner had announced her brother-in-law, Kanye West, would perform at the music festival, and did not indicate she was being sponsored for the post.

In addition to Jenner, other celebrities including model Emily Ratajkowski, hip hop trio Migos, and rappers Pusha T and Lil Yachty were also sued.

Billy McFarland, the founder of Fyre Festival, had raised US$26 million for the event and used the majority of the sum to pay no-show celebrities and spend on the advertising campaign in question.
