‘Normal People’ Bosses Demand Pornhub Remove Pirated Sex Scenes Off Platform
The bosses of Normal People have requested for Pornhub to take down a video compilation of sex scenes from the show that surfaced on the adult website.
The 22-minute compilation of racy scenes made its way to the adult website, and according to Variety, it has been taken down after the removal request was issued.
Executive producer Ed Guiney told Variety that he was “disappointed” that the “excerpts from the series have been used this way.” “It’s both a violation of copyright and it is deeply disrespectful to the actors involved,” Guiney added.
“We have taken appropriate steps to have the content removed from the platform with immediate effect,” he said. Pornhub’s vice president Corey Price insisted that the footage has been removed from the platform. Price explained that “Pornhub is fully compliant with the law,” and the videos are immediately removed when the team is aware of “the existence of these types of videos.”
Due to the increasing amount of sharing sites, distribution of sex scenes online has become an issue for TV programs. Other successful shows including Game of Thrones, has found its scenes popping up on adult websites while it was airing on HBO.
According to Variety, producers usually send out takedown letters to these sites after anti-piracy companies scan these sites for any trace of copyright infringement.
Normal People has become the BBC’s sauciest show, which caused controversy among viewers, with some likening the raunchy sex scenes to a “porno movie.”
The same problem that once plagued "Game of Thrones" has now come for the Hulu series, "Normal People," which includes a number of erotic sequenceshttps://t.co/rRksUja7Db
