Grimes Is Literally Selling A Piece Of Her Soul To Highest Bidder At Art Show

Grimes is selling part of her soul for her online art exhibition, Selling Out.
The singer is set to present her drawings, photographs and artwork in her art show. As part of the exhibition, she is also offering something else: a legal document that gives the highest bidder a percentage of her soul.
Grimes initially told Bloomberg that she didn’t want to sell it initially, but became more and more interested in the idea after drafting out details with her lawyer.
“I didn’t want anyone to buy it so I said we should just make it US$10 million and then it probably won’t sell,” she said. “But the deeper we got with it, the more philosophically interesting it became.”
Though the original idea was to sell it for US$10 million, Grimes decided to take “the best offer” on the table after witnessing the fragility of the economy during to the coronavirus pandemic. “With the current state of the world, do you want to put something up for $10 million?” she pondered.
Grimes has been making art even before she found fame through music. Her artworks have been on display on her album covers, and most of her music videos were collaborations with her brother, Mac Boucher.
