Apple CEO Tim Cook Addresses Racism And George Floyd’s Death In Powerful Memo

In the wake of George Floyd’s passing, Apple CEO Tim Cook sent out a memo to employees to discuss racial injustice in the nation.
Protests erupted across cities as the public displayed anger after the killing of Floyd, who died after being pinned down at the neck by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Cook condemned the injustice against Floyd in the lengthy internal note obtained by Bloomberg, and expressed his hope for a “better world for everyone.”
“We can have no society worth celebrating unless we can guarantee freedom from fear for every person who gives this country their love, labor and life,” the Apple CEO wrote.
Cook also acknowledged the persisting racism in US, which he said was evident in the “criminal justice system” and the “disproportionate toll of disease on Black and Brown communities.”
To create change, Cook announced that the company is donating to groups like the Equal Justice Initiative. He also reminded staffers that they can turn to Apple’s initiative, the Employee Assistance Program, if they need help.
