A touching clip of Gianna Floyd, daughter of George Floyd, is going viral online.
The footage shows young Gianna sitting on former NBA player Stephen Jackson’s shoulders as she pays tribute to her late father. Smiling widely, she raises her arms and declares, “Daddy changed the world.”
“He did what?” a person off-camera asks her. “Daddy changed the world,” she replies.
“That’s right, GiGi. Daddy changed the world,” captions an Instagram account that shared the clip. “George Floyd, the name of change.”
The footage has been shared numerous times across Twitter, including accounts belonging to Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr.
According to Today, the clip was taken in Minneapolis, the same day Rosie Washington, Gianna’s mother, called for justice for the death of George Floyd.
In a tearful statement, Washington added that her daughter no longer has a dad, and plans on walking her “down the aisle” when she gets older.
“He will never see her grow up, graduate—he will never walk her down the aisle,” said Washington. “If there’s a problem she’s having and she needs her dad, she does not have that anymore.”
