The Walt Disney Company has pledged to donate US$5 million to various groups supporting social justice causes in the US on Wednesday.

The company has since donated US$2 million to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). “This US$5 million pledge will continue to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations such as the NAACP that have worked tirelessly to ensure equality and justice,” Bob Chapek, CEO of Disney said in a statement.

Disney has also launched the Employee Matching Gifts program, where the company will match donations made by its employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. The initiative was created to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement following the passing of George Floyd under the custody of a Minneapolis officer.
