Terry Crews Faces Backlash After Posting About Supposed ‘Black Supremacy’

As anti-racism protests carry on in the US, actor Terry Crews has voiced out his less-popular opinion on the issue.
“Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth,” Crews wrote in a Twitter post. “Like it or not, we are all in this together,” he added.
Displeased, his Everybody Hates Chris co-star, Tyler James Williams, responded to the tweet, saying that the “narrative” of “Black supremacy” being pushed to the masses can hurt the Black Lives Matter cause and Black people, as well.
“No one is calling [for] Black supremacy [and] the narrative that we are hurts our cause [and] our people,” Williams wrote.
Crews later clarified that he was aware Black supremacy doesn’t exist and was just trying to put across the message that black and white people have to remain united. He explained that if they don’t meet in minds, “bad attitudes and resentments can create a dangerous self-righteousness.”
He ended his series of tweets echoing the message that his posts came “from a spirit of love and reconciliation, for the Black community first.”
The protests taking place in the US, and now around the world, were spurred from the unfortunate death of George Floyd, who was killed under the custody of Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin.

I believe it is important we not suffer from groupthink, and we keep minds of our own, and be allowed to ask difficult questions to each other. I believe this dialogue is important as we get through this trauma together. I love you.
