Mark Wahlberg Accused of Editing Own Wikipedia Page To Conceal His ‘Hate Crimes’

Mark Wahlberg is getting ripped by social media users after his tribute to George Floyd that counterproductively reminded people of his hate crime convictions in the past.
The actor has since been accused of editing his Wikipedia page to keep the controversy under wraps, Pop Culture reports.
On his Wikipedia page under a “Hate Crimes” section, Wahlberg was described to have been convicted for harassing African-American children in 1986 and Vietnamese-American men in 1988, when he was a teenager. It also stated that the actor had attempted to get a pardon for his crimes. This cast a shadow over his tweet about shining light on the black community and honoring George Floyd.
After the backlash, many social media users claimed suspicious changes were made to the actor’s Wikipedia page. The section titled “Hate Crimes” was seemingly altered to read, “Controversy.” It was also moved further down the page as a sub-heading, instead of a whole section.
The title was subsequently tweaked once again to read, “Racial Incidents.”
Contents of the section, too, had slight adjustments, noting Wahlberg’s age at the time of the crimes and explaining that he was “high on PCP” when he assaulted the two Vietnamese-American men.
Critics presumed that the editing of Wahlberg’s Wikipedia entry might have been done by the actor or his team. The “Racial Incidents” section now also displays a warning at the top stating that the edits were freshly made in June 2020.
