Spike Lee Wants Donald Trump To Stop Speaking About George Floyd

Renowned filmmaker Spike Lee previously released a short film, called 3 Brothers — Radio Raheem, Eric Garner And George Floyd, on CNN during a special report regarding the anti-racism protests across the nation. Lee recently sat down with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon to speak about the short film, as well as the racial injustice in the country.
The short film featured clips from Lee’s 1989 film Do The Right Thing, where the fictional character Raheem was beaten up and hogtied by police officers. The scene was inspired by the death of 25-year-old Michael Stewart, who was killed under police custody in 1983.
The short film also included clips of Garner and Floyd, real-life incidents of unarmed Black men being killed by the hands of police officers. Lee spoke in detail on hoping for the racial injustice to be eradicated in the nation through the voices of the youth of different races.
He also highlighted the importance of the presidential election this year, calling it “the most important election in the history of the modern world.” Lee then spoke about Donald Trump’s message to George Floyd, when Trump said it was a “great day in America” during the tribute of Floyd’s death.
“To speak for George Floyd looking down from Heaven, saying that this is a great day in America? Just don’t say nothing! Stop!” Lee told Fallon over the video call interview. “You should not be speaking about our brother!” He added.
