NASA Showcases Jupiter’s Intricate Swirls In New Breathtaking, Hi-Res Images

NASA’s Juno spacecraft has captured hi-res images of Jupiter from 500 million miles away from Earth.
Juno was named after the goddess Juno, who was known to be Jupiter’s wife in Roman mythology, per Astronomy. The spacecraft was created with the sole purpose to conduct scientific investigation of Jupiter’s origin and evolution. The spacecraft has been orbiting space for four years now.
The spacecraft often gets close to the gas giant every 53 days and when it does, Juno captures images of Jupiter at all of its glory. Then, the raw data from JunoCam gets downloaded and uploaded for a group of scientists to process and work on it.
Some volunteers have also utilized their image processing skills to submit stunning masterpieces of the planet. View more right here.
