Theme Park Execs Demonstrate Calm On Thrill Ride After Japan’s No-Screaming Rule

Japan’s theme parks are preparing to reopen for the summer after months-long closures forced upon them by the COVID-19 pandemic. Infections in the country are thankfully decreasing, but attraction owners will continue to observe safety regulations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
One recommendation, which has left social media users around the world shell-shocked, asks guests to “refrain from screaming” on roller coasters, according to SoraNews24. The suggestion was made by East Japan and West Japan Theme Park Associations, and reportedly already has the support of Universal Studios Japan and Tokyo Disneyland.
Visitors of Fuji-Q Highland might struggle more in order to abide by this advice, though. The amusement park is home to some of the most intense thrill rides in Japan, as well as one of the tallest roller coasters in the world.
Luckily for them, there’s now a PSA that demonstrates maintaining your composure aboard Fujiyama, the world’s tallest roller coaster during its opening and now the eighth-tallest and fifth-longest internationally.
A stunning new video shows Daisuke Iwata, theme park’s president; and Koichiro Horiuchi, president of Fuji-Q Highland’s parent company Fuji Kyukou; remaining amusingly deadpan throughout their experience on the formidable 259-foot monster, proving that it is completely feasible to keep calm and carry on when you’re on a roller coaster.
