Jameela Jamil has called out Kim Kardashian over her recent corset video, describing it as “damaging and disappointing.”
In a lengthy statement, the actress admitted that she has been holding herself from speaking about the video where Kardashian could be seen donning an extremely tight corset that gripped her hips.
Jamil said that she received “over 1000 DMs” by fans asking her to address the controversial clip. “The reason I didn’t jump on it immediately isn’t because I don’t think the post was damaging and disappointing. I do,” she explained. But, the main reason was because she was proud at how far females have come in recognizing “a bulls*it expectation of women.”
She then continued to say that her “work is done,” as women finally understood the dangerous body image the Kardashians are promoting.
Jameel also did not see the benefit in “screaming” at Kardashian, but rather encouraged the need for her fans to empower themselves by choosing to consume the right media.
“Unfollow the people who tell you things that hurt your self esteem. Unfollow people/brands that don’t make you feel powerful and happy and grateful for what you have,” she said in the statement.
This isn’t the first time Jamil has called out the Kardashian sisters for promoting unhealthy habits. Previously, the actress criticized Khloe for promoting the “flat tummy” laxatives, a quick weight-loss tool.
