Reddit has banned a pro-Trump forum page, r/The_Donald, for its promotion of racism, anti-Semitism, conspiracy theories and hate-filled memes.

The website is also removing 2,000 other communities, including a subreddit tied with the left-wing podcast Chapo Trap House. Reddit will be releasing an updated content policy in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and to curb the spread of hate within its online communities.

The r/The_Donald thread had more than 750,000 subscribers before it was banned. The page was previously placed on “quarantine” for multiple violations of rules, including the “encouragement of violence towards police officers and public officials in Oregon.



Now, Reddit has finally taken down the page in hopes of creating a positive space for all communities. “To be clear, views across the political spectrum are allowed on Reddit – but all communities must work within our policies and do so in good faith, without exception,” Reddit CEO Steve Huffman wrote in a post regarding the policy change.
