Margot Robbie To Take Over Johnny Depp In Female-Led ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’

Actress Margot Robbie will take on the lead for Disney’s new version of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
In the past films, Johnny Depp starred as Jack Sparrow in the franchise. However, fans can soon expect to see Robbie wielding the sword instead. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film’s title and cast members have not been revealed yet, though it shares that Robbie has landed the lead role in the blockbuster franchise.
This film will be another one of Hollywood’s attempt to reimagine classic films with female-centric casts. In 2016, the reboot of Ghostbusters saw a wholesome female cast starring Melissa McCarthy, and in 2018, Ocean’s 8 saw Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett as lead roles.
