‘The Simpsons’ Will Stop Casting White Actors To Voice Characters Of Color

With anti-racism protests taking place around the world, many are calling out culturally offensive characters in television shows and films. One such culprit is the longstanding hit series, The Simpsons.
Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, an Indian character, was played by Hank Azaria, a white man. Azaria has since dropped the character, as well as the other characters of color he voiced in the show, namely Carl, Lou, Julio, and Bumblebee Man.
The show’s producers have promised that “moving forward, The Simpsons will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” per Deadline.
Jenny Slate also stepped down from her role as Missy in Big Mouth. In addition, Mike Henry decided to quit being the voice of the Brown character in Family Guy.
