Studio Ghibli Spirits Away Plastics With Plushies That Turn Into Reusable Bags

If only single-use plastics could transfigure just as easily as No-Face could take on different personalities, but that is currently not a reality. The best Studio Ghibli fans can do is to get these adorable character plushies that double as eco-friendly bags.
Donguri Kyowakoku, Japan’s leading retail chain for official Studio Ghibli-themed merchandise, is now shining a light on being environmentally conscious by dropping a couple of plush toys that transform into reusable, lightweight carriers in hopes to reduce wastage. The two new bags come in time following a law in the country that requires all retailers to charge customers for single-use plastic bags, according to SoraNews24.
The first design depicts the fox squirrels from 1986’s Laputa: Castle in the Sky, mimicking the creatures’ habit of riding on the shoulder of Laputa’s caretaker robot. The toy extends into a bag when you reach inside it.
The other eco-friendly bag shows the mouse manifestation of giant baby Boh alongside Yubaba’s bird from 2001’s Spirited Away.
The two bags are now retailing at JP¥2,800 (US$26) each.
