John Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, has died of breast cancer at 57 years of age, according to CNN.

Preston died after putting up a “courageous fight” with the two-year ordeal.

John Travolta penned a tear-jerking message on Instagram to confirm his wife’s death. “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”

Travolta concluded the post by saying, “I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.”

Their daughter Ella Travolta has also paid tribute to her mother in a moving post, “You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama.”

Hollywood celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to Preston, speaking of her “kindness” and “loving soul.” Maria Shriver tweeted, “Kelly was such a bright loving soul, a talented actress, and a loving mom and wife. Join me in sending love and strength.”

“Kelly Preston was enormously kind and unbelievably lovely. My thoughts are with her family,” Chloe Bennet wrote.



A family representative told People that Preston passed away on Sunday night. Preston chose to “keep her fight private” and has been going through her medical treatments alongside her “closest family and friends,” they told the publication.

She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.  My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.  But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.
