Coronavirus Vaccine To Enter Final Trial After Gaining Promising Results So Far

Biotech firm Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine is ready for the final stage of human trials, which have previously shown promising results.
In the first phase, the experimental vaccine produced high levels of neutralizing antibodies in all of its 45 volunteers, who were aged 18 years old to 55 years old. The company partnered with the National Institutes of Health to develop the vaccine for its Phase One trial.
According to the Associated Press, researchers found that this immune response was discovered in all patients who were given the vaccine.
The vaccine, however, required around two doses around a month apart for evidently positive reactions. Some of the side effects experienced by the patients were fatigue, chills, pain, and headaches, which they reported to have lasted around a day after receiving the vaccination.
“No matter how you slice this, this is good news,” Dr Anthony Fauci, leading health expert in the US, shared with the AP.
Moderna intends to start Phase Three trials on 27 July 2020 with around 30,000 participants from more than 80 various locations. The final stage trial aims to determine that the vaccine will be both safe and effective for widespread application.
